I’m lucky to call the course of Ironman Wisconsin home.  As an endurance race event director in the Madison area, I live, breathe, and work endurance sports.  In the 3 short years I’ve been racing triathlon, it truly has become a life passion.  Realizing that racing can be a great platform to deliver a positive message, I try to inspire others to achieve their goals while making an impact in their community.

In May 2013, I was the recipient of a kind gesture from a driver while out riding on the Ironman Wisconsin bike course.  The nice driver inspired me to find a way to say thank you to all the residents of the IMWI bike loop for driving safely while we train and race.  I organized 60+ cyclists and triathletes to bake 2,142 cookies for the 357 homes on the course, and delivered the homemade chocolate chip cookies with a thank you note.  The Cookie Project (www.thecookieproject.org) had a wonderful, positive reaction from the residents and brought the community of athletes together to make an impact in the safety of our sport.

With the help of the Ironman Foundation Newton Running Ambassador Triathlon Team, the goodwill project was recreated in Lake Placid, NY in 2013 and will continue in Madison, WI and Boulder, CO in 2014.  I look forward to improving the relationship between cyclists & drivers and am so thankful to be a goodwill ambassador for our sport.
