Alex Holderness

Alex is excited to be part of the Newton team and to give back to the communities that have given so much to the sport.  His first triathlon was done in a surfing wetsuit (tight cuffs make for long transitions), and on a borrowed bike (first time in clips).  Crossing the finish line was a life changing moment.

Having grown up an All American swimmer, it had been over 20 years since he’d enjoyed the thrill of competition, and he was instantly hooked.  One year later he completed his first Ironman in Coeur d’Alene, ID. In 2011, Alex was sidelined by surgery for a congenital lower back condition, but rebounded by finishing over 12 endurance races in 2012 and 2013, including IM Wisconsin twice.  He’s proud to be representing Newton and the Ironman Foundation in Boulder this year at both the 70.3 and full iron distance races.
