 Courtenay Patterson

After two seasons of cycling and one season of running with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, she decided to give triathlons a try in 2007.  Three months after learning how to swim, she did her first sprint triathlon.  Since then, she has raced Ironman Coeur d'Alene, five 70.3's, and dozens of sprint and Olympic distance races, including USA Triathlon Nationals and Worlds.  Upon crossing the finish line at her first Ironman, she realized that she had done something that was bigger than just her own personal pursuit of an Ironman title. It wasn't just about the race, it was about a journey to a new self-awareness, a journey to a greater appreciation of the strength of a person's body, mind and heart; a journey to the realization that anything is possible.

Courtenay is currently training for Ironman Boulder and is thrilled to be on the Ironman Foundation - Newton Running Ambassador Tri Team.  She loves the sport of triathlon and is proud to be a part of something that allows her to give back to the sport and to the community.
