​Dr. Jose Valdes

• Born in Santa Clara, Cuba in 1952.

• Retired from Colorado State University and teaching as an adjunct professor at a couple of institutions.  Married for thirty-seven years with a grown married son and proud grandfather to Alexandra.

• Slowly working through a “bucket list”

• Became passionate about the sport of triathlon over thirty years ago.

• Have served in various capacities in local triathlon clubs, regional councils, and USAT committees.

• Been a USAT Certified Official for over twenty years.

• Believe that engagement in life, community and sport is critically important and personally rewarding. Thus, the Ironman Foundation Newton Ambassador Triathlon Team is an extension of my personal philosophy regarding engagement.
